Make the most of your point of sale system with Amicus POS! |
Traditionally, the key function of a point of sale system was to facilitate sales. In recent years retail point of sale systems have changed dramatically. It is no longer considered acceptable for the modern POS system to simply work as a facilitator of sales.
Although your POS system should still greatly increase your organisations efficiency at the point of sale by decreasing human errors and increasing the speed in which sales can be completed, it is expected that your POS system should offer much more.
A modern POS can help your organisation to manage your customers, can be used as a marketing tool, is an inventory management tool, helps with your book keeping and accounting, all while still increasing your ability to serve your customers at the point of sale.
A modern POS system can work as a basic CRM by storing customer details. These details, along with sales information, can then be used by the marketing department to enhance a number of different marketing functions. For example, the customer details can be used to send out personalised and targeted offers and discounts to the relevant customers.
The POS system can also be used as an inventory management tool. The modern POS has the ability to produce reports showing vital product sales information. For example, the POS system can produce reports detailing which products are popular and which products are not being sold.
The modern POS system can also significantly help with your organisations book keeping and accounting. A range of reports can be produced telling the user the amount of sales for a period, the amount of receivables for a period, the amount of debts accrued for the period, and other important information needed to complete the company’s book keeping.

Free software donated to the South West Institute of Tafe in Warrnambool by NBS! |
Neotechnology Business Systems have donated free Amicus POS licences to the South West Institute of Tafe in Warrnambool, Victoria. Two point of sale system licences for restaurants were provided, to be used for hospitality training purposes. The licences will be used for the back office and front of house.
The back office licence allows students to learn a range of point of sale operations such as creating and analysing reports, how to run and manage promotional campaigns and stock management techniques.
The front office system will provide the students with an opportunity to engage in hands on training in order to learn the functionality of a front of house POS system and the ways in which a POS system helps to streamline business processes. They will gain first-hand experience using a touch-screen interface in a real-life restaurant environment.
As corporate citizens NBS is pleased to help out. By providing the licences free of charge NBS are helping to ensure Australians have the best possible training resources that are affordable to everyone. NBS would like to thank Welcome Computers, our partner in Warrnambool, who are supplying the hardware required to run the Amicus POS software, setting up and installing the system and providing the Tafe with training and ongoing support throughout the program.
